I know this app (thread) is for Apple, but curious when this will be available for Android. Originally said fall '11 but......no sign of it yet. Anyone know or heard anything?

Wonder why BMW is so far behind in this area. OnStar cars have been offering this (and more) for a while. Best of all, it's also on Android. Good to see they are closing the gap tho...

Ok, spent some time on the phone with a knowledgeable BMW Assist operator. She said the sign in screen was wrong. You cannot use your "MY BMW" sign in. You must use your email which is registered with BMW Assist and your BMW assist password, regardless of what the initial sign in screen says. Then your EMAIL MUST BE ENTERED IN ALL CAPS. Along with your PASSWORD.
What I don't get is that they have integrated the BMW Remote into the iPhone, yet the email functionally in the car is still limited to the Blackberry. Ugh... I wish they would get emails and texts working. |

Mayhem,
The lack of email/texting functionality does not lie with BMW. It lies with Apple/iPhone. The device lacks a specific messaging profile known as MAP, or Message Access Profile. This profile allows the device to communicate (via Bluetooth) emails & texts with the vehicle. This is up to the manufacturer to deliver on, not the car manufacturer. RIM & some Android devices (HTC Vivid, Samsung GSII etc) ship with the MAP profile. Perhaps when iPhone5 comes out, it'll have the MAP feature you're looking for. Dave

Sad how awful this implementation has gone given the BMW name.
