What is the BMW Maintenance Program service intervals?
What is the interval for an oil change via the BMW Maintenance Program (free service)? The BMW website seems to be less than helpful and Google couldn't provide me with an answer. The consensus seems to be "your car will tell you when it's time." Last time I went in for an oil change because my car told me it was time, but the dealer told me to turn around and come back in a few months.
I'm curious as I was looking through my service intervals via the iDrive, and it says my next oil change is 10,000 miles or 3/2016. I had my oil changed 3/2014 at 12,000 miles. The car is at 15,000. 13,000 miles seems reasonable (for "free service" standards anyway) but 2 years seems a little long? Is this just another computer error or is has BMW created the holy grails of synthetics. |

It is when the car says so, or 1 year since the date of the last oil change (if this "low mileage" change gets done, the CBS (Condition Based Service) is not reset, and the oil mileage count down holds).
Not sure why the dealership turned you down the last time if the CBS said service was due. |

I have very low mileage, and have gotten the oil changes based on time ( 1 year ) rather than mileage. For my final oil change under the 4 year free maintenance program, it looks like I will be on my own, because the service dept has advised it HAS to be a full calendar year before they will pay for the oil change. This means the one year date from the last oil change will be beyond the 48 month date, and therefore I will be out of luck. Seems like the policy should be 1 free oil change per year under a 4 year free maintenance program, but it doesn't work this way for low mileage cars.
