Stereo sound quality gripes - anyone else?

Intermittent gripes are the worst - I get distortion (sounds almost like blown speakers) every so often - sometimes turning the car off - waiting a little - then back on will get rid of it - but not always. It's annoying as heck - like noise caused by a competing transmitter or unshielded emf ... it happens on cd, sat, radio - all of it. With phone in car or without. Worst thing is that it doesn't always happen - so if I take it in those guys will roll their eyes! Has this happened to anyone else?

Do you have any mods?

Sometimes electrical mods (like some led angel eyes) can cause interference

Sound quality, issues

have 2012 Z4 3.5i with Premium sound. It's not good. Scheduled visit to dealer, as I have no bass. Subs make no noise, Bass is weak or basically non existent. Something has to be wrong. Also very little sound from rear speakers.

I hope its fixable because it not I will have to sell this car.

My 2010 135i sound is vastly better and my prior E92 logic 7 system was great. The 135i is the upgraded sound but not the HK system.

It's not the premium sound, it's your system. there's something wrong because bass should not be a problem. I'm sure it's fixable and you'll be enjoying your tunes.

Agreed, must be something wrong. The bass from the premium system in my 35i vibrates the entire car when it's cranked up...

+1

I am impressed with mine with the Premium Sound. Plenty of clean bass.

I have the same issue, the factory fitted system in Z4 is one of the worst out there. I orderd this 1 week after I picked up my Z:

A buddy of mine had his E92 retrofitted with their system, great sound.

do you have the premium sound system? If so just play whit the equalizer you should be able to get decent sound quality.

I too get some distortion with my premium system. Playing with the system a few days ago, moved more of the sound towards the "rear" speakers, sounded like I had reduced the volume by 3/4%. Not a lot of base rumble either.

I've also noticed if a do crank it up a bit, the sound kind of fades in and out like I'm adjusting the volume. It will not keep the same level of sound.

Lastly, I've also noticed some music, Pink Floyd for example, their music flows from one track right into the next track without interruption. With the music downloaded on the hard drive any time the music goes to the next track, it doesn't flow, there is a second or two of silence when the track changes. Used to not do this in my Avalanche, checked out the system in my wives car, it doesn't have this delay or silence.

Having paid extra for this system, I would have to say this is the most disappointing feature I have with my Z4!

The difference is that when you listen to Pink Floyd at home, you're probably high and everything seems to flow! Not so (and thankfully) when you're driving.
