OEM Tires?

Anyone receive their Z4 with a brand of tire other than Bridgestone?

My summer tires are Bridgestone [225/40*18 & 255/35*18 on 293 rims] but the winter tires are Pirelli Sotozero 225/45*17 on "290" rims.

Curious to find out if BMW is using any brand of RFTs other than Bridgestones. I understand Michelin is selling some RFTs now. TireRack has them and they are priced about the same as Bridgestones. Would be nice to see BMW start using them.

I have Dunlops on my 535i and had Michelins on my 550i. Both RFTs. But Bridgestones on Z4.

I lucked out and had Michelins on my E92.
My E89 w/19" came with Bridgestones

I had the Stones on my E90 as well, which is a better comparison. I thought the Stones wore more quickly than the Michelins. However, the Stones seemed slightly better in response. Both seemed comparable in overall ride comfort. I think my '06 E90 was the first generation RFT, so perhaps these latest versions have improved.

What a fool I am! When I was in Munich I forgot to check out the tires on my car. Now I still don't know for sure if it was fitted with Bridgestones. Odds are, it was. Anyone taken delivery of an E89 with a brand other than Bridgestones?

Sounds like most, if not all, Z4s are being fitted with Potenzas in Regensburg.

i'm pretty sure the sole OEM tire for the z4 is the potenza...seems as though it would be poor business sense to contract 2 different tire companies to supply tires to one car...

that's is weird, my E90 had michelins, and two friends that had E90's had conti's and bridgestones. that's three companies for the same car. my E89 does have bridgestones. BTW, i hated the michelin RFTs.

A little surprised that you didn't like the Michelins. I would have thought they would perform as well, if not better, than Bridgestones. What didn't you like about them as compared to the Bridgestones?

they were stiff, loud and wore out really fast, roughly 12k miles.

memphis is right on - the Bridgestone RFTs are better than the Michelins, by far
