Expert on brake please advise for Big Brake Kit

I did search but I'm still not sure about this issue.

If I would ditch the e-brake function , would I be able to put 2pots bmw performance brake in to the rear with no problem ?

It'll be tough... especially if you have the DCT since it'll be hard to tell what it's doing in P mode. If it's manual I might give it a shot but I think the E89 uses another chassis for it's rear end - like all the other Z cars.

Thanks Drew,

I have DTC on my Z4 and I actually never use the e brake at all.
I just use P and that's it.


PS. Drew , you haven't reply me PM about your quarter panel. Can you please send me some detail ?

If you dont ditch the ebrake (and its best not to) you can get front M-performance brakes ala 1-series for your car. I question getting them as they are smaller than stock brakes for euro 35iS. (at least I hear they are smaller)

I heard that too.
I think the positive side is the mono block caliper design and stuff that give advantage on track day. May be hold the heat better or something idk.

Cold cold brake doesn't make that much different for brake testing distance but when you on on the track after 6 laps I think car will show some fade action.

Do you think swap to 35is brake is good option ?

I'll need a brake for my car, It will be on track for time attack.

I believe as long as you get the right kit it should bolt on. The Z series probably just has another chassis rear brake set up so just gotta figure out where they got it from.

Here is what I researched when I was was looking at fix my brake fade issue last year...

This will require minimum 17" wheels, but be warned - ONLY BMW 17" wheels will fit. They have a recess on the back side that allows them to clear the 6 pot caliper and the larger caliper on the 35i/35is. Non BMW 17" wheels have issues fitting.

Rear set up. The European 23i and the 30i share the same rear brake pieces, and the European 35i and 35is share pieces. My figures show that the US version of the 35i uses the same parts as the European 30i, while on the 35is uses the larger rear setup.

While some of the other BMW non- E-Brake disks measure the same across the major dimensions, he offset between the friction surfaces, wheel mounting surface and where the caliper mounts will not match and will cause a few issues [which can be corrected with some machining/spacers. I think the loss of a back up [Emergency] brake system is a larger issue and will require substantial coding. this is pretty much why I held off on the rears, plus with the re-coding by BMW and Schmickler the brakes are pretty well balanced.
