Why are downpipes taking so long to fabricate?
The E89 was launched in 2009, three years have passed and were still waiting for downpipes to be made.
I find it astounding that no after market tuning company deems this car important enough to produce some by now. I have been told by a reputable BMW tuning company in the UK that they can make me some within a few weeks. I'm seriously considering having some made for myself and some to sell. I have been in business for over 15 years but have no knowledge of mass producing such items. Is it really difficult or expensive to produce DP's?. If i sell parts to forum members, do you think i can break even? I'm not interested in making money, i just need the DP's |

Well, if you search the forum there is a Greek Tuning Company that actually fabricates DP's with high flow cats or without. Maybe you can get in touch with them and get your self a set.

Have you seen the price? Downpipes for other N54 BMW cost around $800-$1000 Can't imagine they are too different! Surely it would be cheaper to have some made and sell some to recover the initial cost of production. |

Im sure they will be cheaper without the high-flow cats. To be completely honest, all you need to do is just modify your stock downpipes and take the cats off or replace them with higher flowing cats. Any exhaust fabricating shop could pull it off easily

Thanks for your advice.
It's done, Car is going in a few weeks for custom downpipes and hi flow cats, can't wait anymore. Just ordered Stett charge pipe and cp-e dual intakes. Est power around 430bhp Can wait to see what difference it will make! Last edited by The_Hulk; 02-22-2012 at 07:40 AM.. |
