trunk access convenience w/ top down?
I read the manual but couldn't figure out how to operate it. Basically, is there a function to make access to the trunk easier, even when the top is down? What exactly do I have to press? I think there is something that temporarily moves the roof sections out of the way so I can get at the luggage? Thx.

I this this section of the manual explains it pretty well...
If you still can't get it to work... let me know... Good Luck!

I wanted proof BEFORE I owned the car, so the dealer (after three goes) found an expert for me...
Two quick presses of the boot button then press and hold the boot button (you call it a trunk button?) while it opens. The two roof panels move up to the furthest point to touch the winscreen, then the back closes and the boot unlocks. When I found it in the manual it said one quick press of the boot button then press and hold the bppt button (from memory) I still haven't tried it as I yet. HE packed the roof away with the open button (arrow button on the key) as if he was opening the roof normally (Remembering you have to have comfort access installed in the car to get this feature) EDIT: Ha ha - beat me Darbs - with better graphics too!

Arrgh, I can't do it...always getting the alarm. I guess following the manual is not the correct way? I'm hitting it once, then w/i 1 second, I'm holding the button and then ALARM!!! Every single time.
Does that mean Stig's way, i.e. hit it once, then 2nd time, and then hold (until I see the roof move), is the right way? |

We can trace our roots right back to Stig Hur, famous for his charioteering prowess!
I also have two stiglings, the eldest of which is currently driving (pun intended) his teacher mad with his daily discussion on why he wants a BMW Z4 when he grows up!

Yes, now I remember - Stir Hur! Charlton Heston played that parts, right?!

Both presses are just <press+release>, 1 second each? According to the manual, it's <press+release>, then w/i 1 sec, <press+hold> until the roof moves? If I do it according to the manual, I get the alarm w/o fail.

Try a press, release, and then an immediate 2nd press and hold.

I've tried all of these combinations in the past. I get the alarm (as well as the comfort access most of the time). If anyone can do this in a foolproof - non alarming way, I would be happy to hear the details...
However, regardless of the answer, BMW made a bit of a mess of this one imo... |
