Source Found for Stubby Aerial for USA Owners

We did a good bit of internet research on possible suppliers of the stubby aerial originally intended for Citroen / Peugeot that also works for the Z4 and found one with which we've had excellent experience and definitely recommend them!

We communicated with Philip Rigbye, Parts Manager for J & A Rigbye & Sons, a Citroën dealer in Chorley, Lancashire, UK after finding this UK ebay ad Genuine Citroen / Peugeot short aerial. Our email exchange gave us confidence that placing an order in this manner would work quite well and indeed it did. He advised us to enter £3 as the shipping amount when placing the order. We used PayPal to pay for the order and the total US dollar cost to us including shipping was $11.42. The order was placed via ebay on October 27 and it arrived today, November 9.

Hope this is helpful to some of you.

Best regards,
Ed

Thanks for all the leg work. Is the width(diameter) consistent between the antenna housing and the base of the stubby antenna?

I just did a test under less than auspicious circumstances - in our garage with a lot of heavy steel (the car lift) in close proximity to the vehicle. The stubby aerial made absolutely no difference as far as FM and satellite reception - in fact there was no change with either of those when no aerial was attached. There was a very big difference as far as AM was concerned. The seek function could find only one station with the stubby aerial in place and it was poor quality reception. With the OEM "long" antenna several AM stations were found and they were quite listenable.

So, if AM matters to you, I personally wouldn't use the stubby aerial. Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Ed

So much better looking. That factory antenna is hideous.

I went to place an order through the Ebay listing but noticed there wasn't a postage to Australia option. So i emailed him and asked him twice if he can send it to Australia.... no reply for a week now...

Thinking of going to the a Citroen or Peuqeot dealer and asking them, but will likely be much more expensive..

Anyone know where else i can get these that will deliver to Australia?

Thanks

Thanks for the link! I just ordered mine. I don't know what I will take possession of first, the stubby aerial or my new Z4. Either way it is all good!

How is the AM/FM/HD reception out on the road?

Just ordered.

Worst case, I'm out $12. I spend that on lunch every day. LOL..

I should have ordered 20 of them and sold them here in the US. =)

Walked into our local Peugeot Dealer at lunch and picked up 1 for my Z4, and 1 for my wife's 1 series, funny how when I asked for 2 the parts guy just smiled and "BMW", seems they are selling more antennas to BMW owners that they are selling cars
