2008 Honda Civic Si or 2010 Mazda3 Sport?

Yeah, I know, they're two really cheap cars. Just out of curiosity since I'm in the market for a cheaper car as a daily driver, which of the two would you choose and why? I'm torn between the two because they both fit right into my price range, but I'm not sure which one would be better. I haven't test driven either yet, so I will definitely be doing that sometime.

I actually owned an 08 civic si. It was an awesome Fiji Blue when it wasn't pealing off! I loved the reliability and overall sportiness. But the paint quality was horrendous. It only lasted two years before the clear coat started to peal off.

Hmmm...maybe I should look into an Acura RSX Type-S too since its essentially a Civic Si, but looks better IMO.

Mazda has torques and powers. Honda has bad 2nd gear and terrible paint

Lol nah g. The Mazda 3 sport, is not the mazdaspeed3. Honda makes the best manual transmissions period.

If you aren't considering a MS3, then get the Honda. In a manual. Honda 6MT is a dream.

I second this, I had an MS3 as a daily for 7 years. It was the first generation and what a fun car that was, I still miss it till this day since I sold it. If it fits in your budget and you can find a clean example, I would get the MS3 instead.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm considering the Acura RSX Type-S now since its got the Honda at its base with the high revving K20 engine. Going to go see one tomorrow to see what its like. And yes this car will be replacing my BMW as a daily. I know, not an upgrade, but I need something a bit cheaper, which will still be fun to drive.

I can believe it! I'm going to go look at it but I'm thinking I may keep the BMW for a year or two more before getting one. After thinking a bit, I've done so much maintenance on it this year, that it should last me a bit longer for sure. Hopefully the RSX Type-S will still be out there selling when I'm ready.

Just picked up a 2010 Si as a winter car and track car in the summer. Great cars. Just did a lapping day yesterday with it, shamed a lot of much faster cars. Now to raise the suspension and put some good winter Hakkas on it. The real LSD makes a huge difference, something I wish my BMW came with.

Get the SI. With FBO and flashpro you will get almost 250WHP.
With the speed 3 you have to upgrade the fuel pumps if you want to put down anything better.

The Civic responds amazing to mods. The K20 motor is one of Hondas best. I would be looking at a Civic over an RSX.

Was just watching an Canadian Touring Car race on Saturday. First place finish for a Civic Si, over a couple Cayman S and BMW 330's.
