Is there a feedback method to suggest software improvements to BMW?
Guys,
Considering the extend of software control in the Zed... Does anyone know of a feedback method (dont say the dealers) where you can suggest software improvements direct to BMW? Simple things like * playing an album in the proper order instead of alphabetical or random * remembering that random music is a preference * remembering you like sports mode * etc All soooo easy to do, but not in the system as is. Alternatively, is there a forum where you can learn about programming the BMW OS?

Here is the start:
http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...gman-home.html http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=662328 Hope this will do for you in the right direction with the couple of Google searched links. Perhaps joining the Aussie BMW clubs like http://www.clubs.bmw.com.au/scripts/...p?PageID=12930 to perhaps connect to BMW. http://www.bmw-carit.de/de/ with the British Flag on the top right hand corner for English version of the page. It appears to have a contact information for software engineering. Last edited by MDLFCS; 07-23-2010 at 05:30 AM.. |

Come to think of it, you probably have one of those fancy internal hard drives? No idea if you can do the same to those. |

It copies the music off the stick, then you choose by artist or album and play them. It defaults every time to alphabetical playlists, but you can hit the options button and choose random... I have programmed this into one of the eight memory buttons.. There is a playlist programming option, but buggered if I want to sit down and create a playlist for every albumn just to play them in the right order. Its annoying when "we will rock you" and "We are the champions" are played in the wrong order after hearing them played sequentially for 30+ years. ALSO - ranting now - why isn't the car smart enough to switch the sat nav display to night time mode when it gets dark? Even the cheapest TomTom does it. The car has a light sensor for the headlights, so it is capable of it, they just haven't bothered to make it work in the software... Sooo another button used up for a patently obvious feature...

Get down with the kids, start creating playlists and lose the filler album tracks. My main two are 'hard driving' and 'smooth driving' as well as other such stuff, individial artists don't really come into it so much now. (though it is easy to add a whole load of albums that way). |

I was a teenager in the 80s.
I'm in no hurry to grow up thanks. My toys are just getting more expensive...

So how do we get them to add the features we want ... and then how do we get them without having to buy a new car or pay an arm and a leg for a sopftware update sometime in the future ????

I noticed on mine, a couple of weeks back, that when I selected random it stayed on random even after I parked the car up for a couple of hours and drove home, even though the option box was not ticked. On the way home I switch to radio and back, and it stilled worked.
