in the same train of thought, this is USA, no one is turning this into a pissing match, but it's a simple fact that you guys get a new one ripped when buying new, so it would make sense that you guys are considering how it holds its value, but here we don't care... if a $75k M3 goes for $45k used and your $75k z4 goes for $40k used, we're not gonna loose sleep over it.

In regards to the "investment" .....I see that car salesman in Australia are just as full of s%^ as those in the US, stopping at nothing, just to sell a car!!!! Good to know. Whoever buys that Porsche Boxster Spyder should get that guarantee in writing from the salesperson, so when he trades the car in in a few years he can begin negotiating his trade-in allowance at MSRP+ I'm confused though......Is it the chintzy pull handles that substitute for door handles or the manual pain in the a$$ cloth top that make the Boxster Spyder such a great investment? Hmmm. Last edited by BlueZ4AZ; 07-23-2010 at 01:46 PM.. |

Seriously, though. More power (just) less weight and a plastic cover to hide the pathetic gaps normally found on a Boxter boot... Its a wannabe GT3 Mini-Me. So there will be a queue of people who want it. Porsche as a brand is nothing if not a successful piece of marketing, who just happen to make great handling cars. Its not in the same ball park as a Z4 though - they are cars designed for very different purposes.

Haha, that's harsh. They make great cars, but there whole sportscar line is all screwed up, with the cheaper Boxster/Cayman being better handlers than the 911, their halo car, which has the crazy rear engine design that they must stick to due to their loyalists. How long can they tinker w/ that flat 6??? So they have a dilemma about the future of their 911. Also hurts that Nissan successfully gunned against the 911 w/ their GTR, hurting Porsche's cache a bit.

I think Porsche has had a hard time holding the line for 911 loyalists. They have a superior chassis, the Cayman, but if they dropped the latest 997 TT in it, what would happen to the 977? Let's face it's, the 977 is a pendulum with a 500+ hp engine strapped to the wrong end. The Porsche stalwarts would lose faith in their favorite chassis profile and the wailing in Stuttgart wouldn't stop.

Porsche is the #1 most profitable auto maker in the world. Their marketing must be working.
I like the look of the Speedster Boxster but haven't see one in the flesh yet. You would think they could come up with better weight savings than nylon door pulls and a cheesy bimini type top. |
