DCT Capacity

Is there any documentation on how much power can DCT handle? Is there anyone who messed up their transmission and had to repair / replace? Lastly, the DCT we have same as the one in current M3s?

They have same hardware.
You can upgrade to SSP to hold more power.

There are some members has FBO running aggressive map having some slipping.
no actual number what kind of torque they put down.

There is 1 335is (dct same hardware as us and M3)
FBO reported slip at 483ft pound of torque after a lot of drag strip run.
He mention that he hit drag strip at least twice in a month and there were a lot of launch time that he used.

I'm in the process of tweaking out max power on stock turbo with 91 pump gas no meth no e85.
Will have more result and info coming soon. Now my car is with Shiv@Vishnu.

One thing is how much torque the wet clutches can handle mechanically while new and at the right operating temperature. This is well documented by the supplier which is Getrag.

Another thing is how much (in terms of load, torque, temperature etc) the software in individual cars, such as those from BMW, Farrari etc allow the DCT to experience before de-clutching, dis-allowing gear changes, or entering limp-mode. In a Z4 some of these parameters can be changed with an ECU flash.

A third thing is if the car allows launch control and how (at which rpms), and also which gear shifting speeds are made available to the user. Again the capacity here depends on both the DCT and what the car manufacturer decides to offer. Take the M3 vs the Z4 as an example where the M3 offers more customization with the same DCT hardware. It does not seem that there are any after-market tunes available for the Z4 in this area.

I think that is on the low side. Looking at the ESS tunes hitting 400/400 and there doesn't seem to be incident.
