Jack Pad Adapters

I am preping for my 1st DIY Oil change. Very easy.
Jacking up the Z without the jack pad adapters is the hardest part.

I do not do want to damage the jack pads or under side by jacking the Z with without the Jack pad adapters.

In place of ramps and jack stands, I want to use my 2 jacks to hold the front up, so I need 2 jack pad adapters.

Great tool but I want 4 and now at $30 each, is another expense.
Bavarian Auto-
Part number: 096641010
Price: $ 29.95

However they look easy to make, so I made 4 of them.

I had a very large piece of 3/4 thick heavy duty fiberglass that was the cut out section of a boat hull.

I measured the diameter of the jack pad on my jacks which were 4 inches.

I used a 4 inch hole saw to cut the 4 inch disk for the bottom section.

Top Adapter section- I measures them width, length and height of the jack pad on the under side of the Z. I then used a piece of heavy Astek Composite decking to cut the square sections with a chop saw.

I then used a counter sink drill bit to sink the bolt head and nut into the bodies of the top and bottom peice.

I then used an a longer bolt to allow excess tightening of the nut and cut off flush the exposed excess threads.

Tested perfect.

I Now have 4 jack pad adapters that cost me an hour of time.

These could also be made with a solid piece of hardwood.

Simple and easy.

Nicely done. I just use a hockey puck. BTW, don't rely solely on jacks while you're under the car. Get some backup supports in there so you don't get your skull crushed one day.

Second the hockey pucks.

Very nicely done DIY, but I went with the hockey puck route as it was cheaper and doesn't require any work. Since it isn't a hard material, it will just deform when the car is rested on the jack and won't damage the pads.
