Wheels

Are wheels a warrantied item? I recently bought a 2011 Z4 and developed a slow leak L/R. The tire shop took off the wheel and discovered it was leaking because of 5 or 6 cracks on the inside of the wheel. Two new wheels cost about $1,000. I'd like to know if there's any way to get reimbursed?

Sorry to hear about your wheels. I had to take the issue to arbitration. Search "arbitration" and you will find the thread.

I have heard on this forum that BMW USA is sometimes taking care of these now. There is also an ongoing class action lawsuit.

I am betting that your wheels are 296 wheels and based upon this forum there are MANY, MANY write ups on these wheels cracking.
Search 296 wheels cracking threads.

BMWZ4Rider is right.. Very likely 296's.
check out the older posts on this as it will help your understanding of your rights. You will also find that in many cases BMW replaced the wheels under warranty if it did not look like you had hit anything hard.
They replaced both of my rear 296's. I now have the new and improved Version 2 (thicker) 296's.
No issues after that. Interesting though that i have the old 296 on the fronts but never had trouble.

Z4 19" wheels

Sorry I'm late to this forum. I eventually bought some after market rims. So, I have a set of 2 OEM front rims and 1 OEM rear rim in good condition that I would like to sell off. If anyone is interested, I'll learn how to attached pics etc. I'm in Albany, NY area.
