Rear brake pads on Z4s built before 11/2010

RealOEM shows different part numbers for the rear brake pads on Z4s built before November 2010. Ours was built in October 2009, so we fall before this change in part numbers.

I am not sure what all changed with the pad and whether pads are interchangeable between the cars built before November 2010 and cars built after. The reason I ask is because I'm looking for low-dust aftermarket pads that will fit our rear calipers and most sites do not seem to recognize this distinction and show the same pads as fitting Z4s from 2009-2015 (non 35is, of course).

I would love to hear from people with Z4s from 2009 and 2010 who bought aftermarket pads and had no trouble fitting them on their Z4s. Thanks!

My RealOEM research shows that only the US 28i/30i/35i models got updated pads. The EU 18i/20i/23i/28i/30i models continue to use the old pads. And since the caliber housing is exactly the same part number across all these EU/US models, I GUESS you have nothing to worry about. Perhaps they updated the pads due to special regulations within the US market?

If I was you I would just shop for 18-28i aftermarket pads. Maybe they are less expensive, and you avoid getting 35is pads from "confused" sellers by mistake.

I have a 2012 35i with stock pads and have very low dust. Should work out for you. FWIW

the change was because of the amount of dust they give off. the newer pad simply gives off less.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I didn't even think about a change to pad composition but that makes total sense, especially if the caliper PN did not change. I'm really glad I asked! Thanks again for the help!

I have been using the Stop Tech performance pad and I hate them. I am getting ready to go back to the stock pad and it sound like I should by the pad after 2010. The reason I switched was because of the dust.
