Code Scanner Recommendation

I am going to change my battery and will need to registrar it with the car and I have a problem with the comfort access system that I want to troubleshoot. Can anyone recommend a good code scanner for the Z4?

iCarly will register the battery and scan for codes. The battery registration feature is a $5 or $10 in-app add on.

BMW Logger is free software for pc that will scan codes and register a battery. You will need a cable.
