Red Oil Change Service Light

Hey has anyone had this happen before?

I started up the z4 today and the red service light popped up, under the vehicle status menu in idrive the system said oil change required (27,000 miles) in red. BMW says the red part means it is 27,000 miles late... but the car only has 26,xxx miles on it.... The bmw dealership didn't seem to understand why that was impossible and just kept telling me im VERY late on getting my oil changed...

btw: I last had the oil changed about 4,000 miles ago so ik its fine.

It's a problem with the module in the car that keeps track of service intervals. I've had it before a cople of times. Seems to happen when plugging things into the OBD port.

Just reset the oil change through the service menu and make a note somewhere of when it's really due. What's in the service book is all that matters.

No harm in doing a short change now and resetting the indicator that way you are in sync and dont forget to change it later. Oil is cheap compared to engine replacement.

that doesn't really fix the problem as it will just come back with the same issue later....

I'm not gonna change the oil every 1k miles because the computer has an error
