Understanding Offset and Wheel Spacers

Hi All,

I have done quiet a bit of search, but can not find an answer to this. I was wondering if you experts will clarify this for me.

If you have a wheel with 30mm offset and you have a 10mm spacer, does that effectively make your wheel a 40mm offset?

Or say for example, your OEM wheel is 30mm offset, and you want to run 40mm offset without a spacer, is that the same thing?

Appreciate the feedback.

With a 30mm offset + 10mm spacer, your final offset is ET20. So the lower the offset, the further your wheels stick out. To get your ET30 wheel to a ET40, you would have to shave the rear mounting pad of the wheel 10mm. This will decrease the thickness of the mounting pad, making your wheels tuck more, and your final offset will be ET40. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

(The lower the offset, the Thicker the rear mounting pad)
