KW V3 coilover rear clunk

I am having some rear clunk noise that is coming from what I believe is the rear springs. KW's instructions was to reuse the top spring rubber on the bottom of the KW springs and disregard the OEM bottom rubber. I did this and adjusted the height and it handles and rides great. However, when taking off I am getting a clunking noise from the rear. Any ideas?

I got used to it. But some of people never heard of it. I don't know what's up with that.

I am going to look at this again today but I believe that the rear sway bar might be hitting my Milltek exhaust because the car is lowered some. Has anyone else experienced this?

So I believe that I have figured this out. It appears that the sway bar is hitting the exhaust during take off. I guess that my only option is to raise the car some to avoid the clunk. I guess that this explains why some have not had the noises and others have had this problem. I am curious that what your A settings are for the front and rear.

KW say that the A front measurement should be between 170mm and 195mm. I am currently sitting at 188mm. My A rear measurement on the rear is 25mm and KW says that you should be between 15mm and 35mm.

Anyone else care to post their measurements and whether or not you are have a clunk with your KW suspension.

I also believe that part of my problem is that I have a Milltek exhaust which is probably larger in diameter than the OEM exhaust. It sounds awesome though.

Is the sway bar sitting parallel with the ground? On my R60, I had to change out the sway-bar links after lowering on KW v3's because the sway bar was no longer sitting parallel with the ground at rest. Aside from potentially banging on the surrounding pieces, a sway bar that is angled relative to the ground (due to a lowered suspension) is not behaving as intended from a performance standpoint.

I doubt this is an issue in your case, both because you didn't seem to lower it much and because I'm sure you would have identified that as the cause if it were, but I thought I would toss it out on the off chance it was overlooked. It happens to the best of us!

Other than a cocked sway bar, my only other thought was the Milltek mufflers; like you pointed out, they look quite a bit larger than the OEMs.

(Note that both potential causes -- the larger mufflers and a cocked bar -- could work together to produce the issue you're describing.)
