Wrecked and repaired

About a month ago my wife rear-ended an SUV in her new 2010 Z4 35i. No one was hurt. The car only had 1400 miles on it at the time. After $9200 worth of body work and paint including wet sanding and buffing, it is now back home in the garage. They replaced just about everything back to (and including) the radiator. The headlights alone cost $1295 each. We had the work done at BMW of Annapolis. They did a nice job; the only problem that I saw was some sanding scratches that didn't get completely buffed out. I got rid of them with my PC 7424 and some Sonus SFX-2 polish. Here are two pictures taken right after the accident and two taken today...

I am glad to hear that no one was hurt in the accident. Did you claim the insurance?

this just made my stomach turn...almost happened to me on the autobahn about a month ago...cept i was doing maybe 120mph. a little side note on this as it pertains to brakes...i wasn't too impressed with the stopping power from that speed, it was a little too close for comfort. either it was the brakes or me being scared shitless and not braking hard enough, not sure...not willing to replicate the experiment though...glad you got your car fixed and no one was hurt

Yes, State Farm paid for the repair. Now we'll see how much they raise our insurance premiums.

I also told the body shop to leave off the "sDrive35i" emblems after they repainted the front half of the car. That was an idea that I got from another thread on this forum. I think it looks cleaner without them.

Nice to hear you are satisfied. BMW of Annapolis also just refinished both of my bumpers to repair some transit damage. Did a great job as well.

Sure, I'm always willing to show off my car. It's a Basalt Black 2008 Carrera S. Options include full leather interior in brown natural leather, leather center console, deviating carpet (black), adaptive sports seats, Carrera Sport wheels with 305/30-19 rear and 265/30-19 front P-Zero tires, two-mode sports exhaust, and Bose audio system. I also have a short shifter kit that I haven't installed yet.

Can you scan the itemized list of the replacement parts>>

as it would be interesting to see how much some of the parts cost. With each light costing almost $1300 I imagine the cost of a hood would be thousands.

Thank you,

RET

On the bmwfans.info site the price of the hood is about the same as that of a non-adaptive headlight unit, roughly $800. Although I have no idea where they pull those prices.

Hey stickshift, thanks for posting the before/after photos. Looks great. Question, does that accident go on a carfax report now?

Here is the invoice for the repair. The aluminum hood was U.S.$1059.60, which was less than the cost of one headlight. It looks like the list price of a headlight was a little over $1300 but the actual price they charged my insurance company was only $1131.08. I don't know why some of the parts were discounted below list price.
