Engine Problems after 2500KM
Just on my way back from a family visit my z4 started to get jumpy, and this light came on.
I had to drive another 15km before I could stop. Car jumps like crazy if i push over 2000 rpm. Gonna take it in to BMW tomorrow, hope I wont be without my car for a long time... I have only pushed it hard once, and that was after 2000KM... Also when the car is stopped with the engine running, there are strange vibrations, like the car is shaking. Really worries me. Anyone had this problem? |

I had my HPFP replaced. My problems began with long cranking, after about a month of that the fuel pump had to be replaced. However, once the car started, it ran great all the way to redline. Good luck with your car.

It sounds like the high pressure fuel pump indeed. Your car went into limp mode and told you it was very unhappy. Do a search on this ("HPFP") and be sure to have a tall drink at hand.

I just brought it to the bmw dealer. They said it was an odd problem by what i told them, and they had never heard of anything like this.
Keep in mind, this is spain... Anyway, they are having a look at it today. Really hoping i wont be without my Z for long... |

your car is doing exactly what my buddies 09 335i did. took it in and they replaced the injectors...did it again and replaced more stuff, after the second time in it did the same thing again the very next day. Horribly engineered engine...either works beautifully or is absolute crap. well, thats not fair...could be horribly manufactured parts from whoever they sourced them from

All this makes me wish that I had ordered the 30i as I originally was leaning towards. My car arrived in NJ on 11/6. I believe it is in transit to my local dealer. I don't care if it is parts sourced from a supplier. By now they should have got this rectified instead of putting the same crap in these cars.
I know BMW will stand behind their product, but that isn't the point. I don't want the aggravation or the disappointment in the car. |
