Just got my car back with the 3M

I just got back from picking my car up with the 3M applied. They really did an awesome job. You can barely see the line on the hood. I will post some pictures as soon as this brutal cold front passes. It is freezing here in the Northeast and the wind is making it all that more unbearable.

C'mon Summer!!!

It's beautiful here. The sun is shining and the top is down! Jealous?

I had that 3M stuff on my Elise. It's really amazing and it takes a pretty big rock to do anything to it.

Cheers!

would you say its a good idea to put that 3m on a black colored car? Does it show up easily, or does black hide it. I really dont want to have a lot of stone chips on the front bumper and around the wheel wells if this stuff helps. Has anyone done it on a black one?

I had it on my '06 Z4 which was Monaco Blue and as close to a black car as you can get without it being black. On the bumper you cannot detect that you have it on. On the first quarter of the hood, you can see the line where the 3M ends if you look real close. You would have to go up to the car to really see it. I still think it is a far better alternative than loads of stone chips which would show up as white dots all over your nice black bumper.
On light colors the chips show up as black specs.

The beauty of it is that you can take it off whenever you want to and your paint is in like new pristine condition. I would highly recommend getting it as I have had two Z's without it and I know over the years what the ravages of the road can do. When I traded my '06 Monaco in, there wasn't a mark anywhere on the car.

I love the 3m product if it is applied well - our Z4 is having it applied today and it looks great; the only visible part is the line on the hood when you are close to the vehicle
