I am to take delivery this Saturday or early next week. Then, let the performance mods begin - not that it needs any but my wife really wanted the Eisenmann Race Exhaust (which we already have and will be immediately installed).

Good News
VintageBMW.
This is outstanding. You say it has renewed your faith in the marque and quite rightly so. This is a lesson to us all in standing up for what we believe in. Mind you, you could have done without the intervening stress...... I haven't read the whole thread - are you being compensated for that? However, at the end of the day, your relief at this resolution is probably compensation in itself......... Out of order, I show you out of order. You don't know what out of order is, Mr. BMW. I'd show you, but I'm too old, I'm too tired, I'm too ***in' blind. If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place! Out of order? Who the h*ll do you think you're talkin' to? I've been around, you know? There was a time I could see. And I have seen. Cars like these, younger than these, their suspension torn out, their springs ripped off. But there isn't nothin' like the sight of an amputated spring. There is no prosthetic for that........... Apologies to Lt. Col Frank Slade! WHO-AHHH, SPRING IS ON THE WAY! |

Thanks, although we have been without the car for almost the whole ordeal and it has been a life suck of stress - no cash compensation and I did not request it. BMW NA has done us right though by getting us a car with about $3-4k more in options, which includes NAV; so, in the end it seems fair and we are glad the ordeal is over.

I'm curious - did you buy or lease, and how did they work the paperwork as far as the loan or lease. Also, they must have handled the title changes with Dept of Motor Vehicles (or whatever they call it in your state) and so forth. Just curious how they tied up the last little bits of the transaction. |

teagueAMX - we did a collateral swap = they take the old Z4 and I get a new one. this resulted in a "simple" VIN change on the BMW Financial loan we have so that the new car is tied to my old car loan - this keeps us in the same equity position. a few papers were signed to process with TXDOT and BMW Financial. so, same payment for a better car - it is a beautiful car and I will pick it up in Cleveland tomorrow. yes, I am flying in and driving home to Texas tomorrow and all night Friday (I may stop if I get tired) - about 1,000 miles. I think it will take me 18 hours straight but we will see.

Okay - back from a 1,450 mile drive from Cleveland in the new new Z4; weather was terrible from southern Illinois until northern Mississippi (to go a few hundred miles took 10+ hours). I had to add about 300+ miles to the route in an effort to stay out of the worst snow and ice - it didn't really work. However, the new Z4 is perfect and I love the navigation / iDrive.

A 1400 mile drive is certainly a way to bond with the car.

Great to hear you are back home safe! I was alittle worried when I was watching tv and heard about the weather along your travel route. I can't wait to see the pictures. I love the navigation and the idrive system as well, glad I ordered it for my car!

Frankly, it was a little scary. The Nav is really great and I should have gotten it in my X5. It must have snowed 6+ inches in southern Illinois along the Mississippi as I had to stop about 1 a.m. Saturday - the plows could not keep up with the weather and there were not enough people on the road to help keep it clear. When I headed back out to the parking lot at 7 a.m. the car had almost a foot of snow on it and the performance tires BARELY got me out of the parking lot. From there to just south of Memphis took me almost 10 hours - then it was on to Jackson, MI then over on I-20 to the Fort Worth area to arrive in Mansfield at 1:09 a.m. as predicted by the Nav. Only 800 miles that day but extremely tiring in an effort to keep the car on the road through the mess.
