bimmette: I'm with you 100%. I really want to make a career change and also willing to take less money to get the ball rolling. But with my IT background, I don't think my resume gets looked at much when I apply to non-IT jobs. I even got shunned for an IT recruiter position. My understanding is that's seen more as a sales type of position. Of course, I have no sales experience.
I may just go work in Chipotle to at least get free burritos
If you haven't done so, look at higher ed institutions in your area. University IT is a different world from corporate IT. Much more relaxed and free form. The pay isn't nearly what it is in the private sector, but the benefits are way better. And many universities let you go to the same school tuition free, so you can work towards a new degree and possibly a new field while you work at the university.

Just a thought. Better than working at Chipotle.

Our food court does some pretty decent Tex-Mex. Very good quesadillas.

I only ate at Chipotle once and the burrito was 95% rice. I wasn't impressed. There was a place across the street called Qdoba that had better food.

M_Six Thanks for the info. It's something I will definitely look into.

You gotta give Chipotle another chance. Their chicken is the best in that "tex-mex fast food" sector. And they try to actually get quality, local ingredients, not mass produced factory stuff that comes in bags. Maybe try a bowl rather than a burrito.

on topic: I think I passed my cold on to a coworker. And I'm still congested.
