so it will be vettel and alonso in mclaren? seems like a serious waste of money blowing off all this cash just to buy out their contracts. recent history has shown that the car is much more important than the driver. better have an average driver in a world class car than a world class driver in an average car.

Mclaren and honda should invest this money in making the car better instead. button and magnussen are capable of delivering if the car was good. and then if Mclaren really wants alonso and/or vettel they can get them for cheap next year when their contracts expire, instead of buying them out right now and losing all this cash.

Yup, Red Bull has announced Vettel is leaving to go to Ferrari.

Team principal Christian Horner said Ferrari had made Vettel "a very attractive offer."

Vettel will be replaced at Red Bull by Russian Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat, the team announced.

Now that makes Alonso to McLaren more believable.
So next year, Vettel to Ferrari and Alonso back to McLaren. Button will be out.

FP3....crash out for Hamilton!!!

Hope the race isn't cancelled due to the typhoon. I wonder if Red Bull intentionally traded more wing for poor pole positions in order to have the best chance in a rain impacted race.

Benz is looking too strong, so I hope for difficult weather but not bad enough to cause interruption or cancellation. I'd like to see Button pulling off a glory days wet weather heroic win to make it interesting for McLaren's management...

So are the Red Bull bandwagon fans going to follow Vettel to Ferrari and become Ferrari fans?

Hitting the crane, unfortunately it sounds very serious.
Our well wishes go out to him and his family.

Were they late with the yellow flag?

Bianchi has “severe head injury” after crash – FIA

Jules Bianchi suffered a severe head injury in his crash during the Japanese Grand Prix, the FIA has confirmed.

The Marussia driver was taken to Mie General Hopital where he a computerised tomography (CT) scan revealed the extent of his injuries. He is currently undergoing surgery, after which he will be moved to intensive care.

The hospital will issue further updates on Bianchi’s conditions.

Bianchi was in 17th place when he went off the track on lap 41. He crashed at the Dunlop curve where marshals were already at the scene of a similar crash involving Adrian Sutil, who had crashed while following Bianchi on the previous lap.

Sutil later said Bianchi’s car had struck a recovery vehicle the marshals were using to move his Sauber.

Well he's out of surgery and breathing on his own. That's good news. I saw a picture of his car, good lord it's a miracle he survived.

Not a good ending. Breathing on his own is very good sign, though. Still, head injuries, as we've seen with Michael, are never easy to recover from. Thoughts and hopes are with him.

back to racing, Hamilton was the fastest among everyone with the given condition. Great drive! Button made a few good calls and almost got him a podium position, but one gremlin mistake cost him three seconds or so in the pit.
It was a tough race with downpour to steady rain, dried up a bit and then more rain towards the final 10 laps.
Wish to see Bianchi back in racing soon, who was the hero of Marussia in Monaco earlier this season scored two crucial points for the bottom team.
