Adaptive headlights
So I'm sitting in my driveway waiting for my wife, garage door is closed. I'm playing around with the adaptive headlights by turning the steering wheel left and right and I notice that the headlights turn to the right with the wheel, but they won't turn to the left after the steering wheel passes the neutral position. Has anyone noticed the same thing?

My E83 does this too. I think it is a safety feature. If you are not moving adaptive headlights don't turn left so you won't blind oncoming traffic.

Hi all, starting an old thread reg the adaptive headlights.
Reg. the headlights swing, my lights don’t swing parallel! The right swings more than the left. The mechanic said that they’re not supposed to go parallel, the right is swinging longer out to the side than the left. They just changed the left light two weeks ago because it was not moving at all. Can anyone confirm that the lights are supposed to NOT go parallel? |

I THINK this is right (I can't find the source where I read it)
For left hand drive cars, the lights will go to the right more, because there is no risk of oncoming drivers there. The lights have a cut off pattern that rises to the right, so if the lights swivel too far left, it may blind the oncoming driver |

Makes sense that the lights don’t swing all the way out to the left. I would think that they would swing parallel out to the right, but maybe there is a reason why they don’t. |

Are there really that few of us who download and read the manual before even picking up our cars, then read it through a couple more times after we have the keys?

Never read the manual before I had the car. But I have read it a couple times from front to back. I try and educate myself as much I can so I don't find myself scratching my head whenever a warning light comes on thinking; what the hell is that symbol
