Wind Deflector Installation
Ordered wind deflector for 2010 Z4 from my BMW dealer last week, now waiting for delivery. Anyone have any experience with installing on their own? Is it much of a challenge or is is best to pay dealer for the installation?

Is the the solid, transparent deflector? I had the mesh / net deflector in my E85 and it was a snap to install: just slide the covers over the two roll bars and tighten a few velcro straps.

This is the BMW accessory, which requires replacing the standard roll bar covers with the new covers that include screens inside the roll bar openings.
Thanks for your reply. |

I quick Google search came up with the installation instructions for the solid wind deflector on an E85 (attached). I note that this requires the removal and re-installation of the roll bar covers but not their replacement. Perhaps there's a similar manual for the E89 around too.
It doesn't look too hard to try to do without the dealer. Cheers, Danny

Thanks Danny, this appears to be quite similar to the E89 accessory. Just got a call 5 minutes ago from dealer, the wind deflector package is in, told them to ship to me, and I will go ahead with installing myself. Appreciate the pdf you located.

Some folks have mentioned on the forum about dealer feedback that the rollbar covers were difficult to remove and prone to breakage (theirs were removed to repaint the silver stock rear cover of the rollbars)

But yeah, apparently they are very prone to breaking on removal.
