The WhatsApp chat is been responsive for me with Carlife Mall he is checking with a E89 owner he sold a E9X unit to see if he is having any issues and it it works correctly. the price he quoted me is 550 for E9X and 650 for E89 specific one

I'm rather sure they are all made in the same factory so regardless of which seller you get them from its prob the same units.(just my thought)

I would have thought they won’t be the same at a s/w level as for example the E89 has an EFB and the E90 didn’t ..I believe?

Looks the same, but would you get aftersales support if you have a problem? The problem with buying from Aliexpress, and yes I know this from experience, is that sometimes it can go wrong and then it's no longer such a bargain.
Let me expand on that...
A lot of sellers on there use "Drop Shipping", where they never hold any stock. Once you place an order with them it is automatically sent to the warehouse that holds stock for loads of sellers and then they ship it out to you. Now if you have a technical enquiry, ie; something isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing, the seller probably doesn't have a clue, so he'll contact some technical support from the original point of origin to get advice and "hopefully" sort you out. But if there is a language problem here (and there very well is most of the time) then this isn't going to work out with a usable solution, hence where the problem lies.

Now I've bought stuff from Aliexpress before and have had no issues on most of the items, for instance the replacement "B&O" speakers for my Z4. I knew they probably were fake, but for the price they've been a great upgrade to the OE ones for the last 3 years. But I've bought a couple of items where I've had to jump through hoops to get anywhere, which is all designed to put you off.

So it may look like a bargain, and it may well be, but.....

Just my opinion

Oh and just for the record, I've now removed my digital cluster and replaced it with my OE one

Care to say why? I was thinking about buying one for Christmas but don’t want to waste the money if it’s not worth it.

Yes certainly can....

Simple, I fitted the digital cluster as a paid promotion, for my YouTube channel, with Acarnavi and gave them the video to use as well. But prior to this, last September, I'd retrofitted a Cruise Control cluster to my Z4 to go with my retrofitted cruise control. Now this cost a lot in time sorting it out and actual cost to buy it and have it re-coded, so as I never had the intention of doing this mod, prior to making the video, this is why it's now gone back in. I'll be making a long-term performance video for the digital cluster which'll be out eventually (I did some filming of it in action prior to removing it).

But, in short, it's worth it if this is the look you want. I've got nothing against it at all, in fact I really liked having it installed. I did over 7000 miles in it up and down the UK, and it's my daily to work and back so has had plenty of use. I can safely say I've had no issues with it, and it's worked flawlessly all the time.
Apart from the time and money, the other reason I've gone back to the OE cluster is because I'm about 90% of the way to retrofitting all the OE spec mods that I want on my Z4, of which most have been filmed (if not actually uploaded yet) for my channel. Anything that is not OE is not visible

So you liked it, but are looking for OE looking mods, so you removed it. Do I understand correctly?

Basically, yes
I've got no issues with them at all, I think they look great and do a great job. Part of the same reason why I went from the Android touchscreen to the full iDrive system.

This is my first post and my first BMW. I have always been a Mustang GT guy but man I love this Z4 and enjoy learning about it from all of you. I watched the video and I installed the lcd digital cluster. I was wondering if the bimmercode app still works with it like it had with my oem cluster, I dont think it is.

No the Bimmercode app won't work with it. All settings are available on the screen,, so nothing else to do.

Seatbelt* Also, and I am so sorry to keep bothering you but when I put my tmobile obd in it shows to error codes yet they never have shown up on the digital lcd. It was for an ecu and cluster error

Seatbelt tone and roof operation are nothing to do with the cluster, so the Bimmercode app will work with those.
Cluster error will show because its not an original cluster any longer. What's the other ecu fault?

Both of these are due to the cluster not being genuine, I wouldn't worry about it
