Correct, on my 14 the option sticks when you restart the car as well. I'm not sure if that is different with any other years as my wife's X3 doesn't keep the setting after the car is restarted.

Just out of curiosity, do you find you use the feature or turn it off?

I leave it on since I don't find it that intrusive although I am not sure how much gas I'm saving with it enabled.

As long as I've got you on the line (so to speak...) How are you liking the MT with the 4 cyl? Wife and I are currently shopping for CPO Z4 and are considering both 4 and 6, but were so impressed with both ATs that we didn't bother to drive an MT (although it's her DD and she's been driving manual transmission Miatas for the past 17 years!). Should we reconsider this as an option? What made you decide to go with the MT?

Automatic wasn't even a consideration for me since I thought this type of car is more about driving enjoyment. I did test drive the 28i in automatic since there weren't any manual's to test anywhere and the 8 speed was good, just not as engaging as I wanted. I also test drove a CPO 30i with the non turbo straight six with automatic and was really disappointed with the performance which I think is more due to the automatic not being as good as opposed to the engine performance being the problem.
I really like the N20, it has a good amount of torque which makes it great as a daily driver and easy to drive around without constantly downshifting. It's also quick enough for me and I don't miss the extra power the 35i/is would have provided.
