Hello to all - new member - first observations

Just joined the forum and pleased to say I have my Z4 35i

Great car

Plus points

Fantastic suspension, I am an ex-911 twin turbo owner (993) and I am not disappointed with the Z4’s set up. Perfect balance between comfort and sporty.

Engine and seven speed DCT was why I bought the car – absolutely brilliant

Styling and fit out are perfect

Bad points

Roof rattles

Stereo shocking – I have the basic radio – same as in my 330D (which is great sounding) the one in the Z4 is complete rubbish.

Seats not very supportive.

So I am looking to deal with these asap, the roof rattle is booked in with the dealer, (I think it is one of the small pieces of plastic covering the folding mechanism) and I am talking to a car stereo specialist about the lack of sound – hopefully I can get away with a speaker upgrade?

Any ideas on seats?

Kind regards to all

Hi,

First congrat on your new car. Don't forget to post some pictures when you can.

Regarding the stock stereo, from the various posts I've read, if I've understood things correctly I suspect that in addition to speaker upgrades (and maybe you can get away with keeping the existing speakers and simply adding additional ones), you will likely need an amp of some sort. I think part of the issue is a lack of power from the stock system (which doesn't come with an amp).

Regarding the seats.....did you go for the sports seats?

Hello

Yes I did go for the electric sports seats – but they are nowhere near as good as the 330D’s – I might have a chat with BMW – they are missing the lateral support?

So when you corner hard you slide in the seat.

These are only minor points and I will get them sorted soon.

Cheers

those don't sound like sport seats... sport seats have side bolsters, the thigh extender and thigh support, also the sides go up and over the headrest

I was wondering about the seats – I defiantly don’t have the thigh extenders but the seats are the same as the sports seats shown in the brochure, plus electric? Maybe it’s a UK spec thing?

Nice and sunny here on the UK south coast – just has a great drive with the roof down and the engine noise is just great!

Look like standard seats to me.

Check your order form. If you specified sports seats then the dealer needs to rectify.
