That's the EXACT video that persuaded me to buy the catted version. My car sounds identical to that one

Only thing different is that I don't get as many gurgles as the RPMs drop. It just sounds very smooth which is good. I'm not sure if that is to do with my ESS tune or my model year 35is (2010). I have heard a few 35is do that. Mine does give a few gurgles and pops if I leave it in 1st gear and use engine braking at low speeds.

I will post a video up later today with Catless AR DP's. I also have a Remus Exhaust so it will probably sound a little different than with a stock exhaust.

I don't know much about the ess tune but on the jb4 there's an option for the exhaust flap to be on. Honestly when ppl hear it they always thinks it's an aftermarket exhaust (cause it's much louder and more "popping or back fire")
If that's an option for u, try that.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. It's probably igoing to be easier to choose now.

Man, this thread is not making it any easier to decide. If I had the 35is exhaust, I would feel obligated to go with the catted DPs. But with the regular exhaust, I'm still unsure.

Valid or not, I still worry about the ceramic cats melting. Maybe I'm prejudiced, but I think of Magnaflow as the cheap AutoZone exhaust parts that 22 years old slap on Mustangs and Camaros. I'm actually surprised AR Design did not go with metallic cats. It suggests to me that they regard the catted downpipes as something they wouldn't otherwise sell or endorse but for customer demand.

All that said, I do slightly prefer the more refined, quieter sound of the catted pipes. Decisions, decisions.

I think this should seal the deal. If you aren't REALLY hammering on the car, not liking the sound is going to be a key issue but melting is a pretty remote risk

My car with stock 35is exhaust sounds like this car in regards to the lack of popping as the rpms drop. Sounds very smooth:

I also note that BMW changed exhaust systems in the 35is made after 9/2012 - different part number.

Do you have a jb4? If so enable flap on then you'll get tons of popping. I'll filming my car sometime tomm then I'll post it up. I'll probably do a before and after video with and without the AR DP.

So where are the O2 sensors located? I though the O2 bungs were for the OEM O2 sensors. If those are for wideband use, i guess i don't need to the bungs right?

thanks man, it is a stock exhaust (the m package one) on a 35i. So far a jb4 g5, ER charge pipe, HkS4 bov, AR downpipe, front lip and diffuser(which is up for sale on this webpage).
yes ill post up the flyby sometime today or tomm, and there isn't any rasp (surprisingly). Also as far as the smell, i can't tell and one thing i do notice the cold start sound really good.
