I have a early production 2009 z4 that had sattelite prep, the first few months cars required a trunk installed module very high if you can still find. I bought a xm Roady 2 from EBAY for $35 and installed in console with velcro, hooked to the switched power outlet and the aux in in the console. I ran the thin antennae wire out between seats and up to the drivers side dash. I get great reception with no dropouts. The drawbacks are, to change channels open console and use preset buttons or remote.
