In Beijing area~

1 Square meter=10.71Sauare feet
A year's wages of workers is about 36,000 yuan =5,868 USD
I guess you're one of the lucky ones that can buy a US$144,000 car.

my rough understanding is that it is

Luck + skill + knowing the right people + the right convoluted back channel to bribe said people through their distant associates or family + willingness to overlook morally grey situations to make money at any costs

Regardless, it is pretty impressive to have a car that is 24x average annual wage. That's roughly like having a 700k car in the US

You may be right on the mark with that observation, but I'm not getting in the middle of that with you and diddlkiss!

I do not know how to tell you this socialism with Chinese characteristics
But on the road in China, there are an infinite several times or even hundred times the average annual wage of expensive cars
760Li in China the price of 3,000,000.00 yuan = 50,000 USD
In China, if you are migrant workers, you have very little income.
If you are a private owner, then your income will be higher
If you have a company, you will have more money.
If .. you are a civil servant. Your salary may only 20,000 dollars, but your gray income would be $ 300,000.
In China, the Constitution is not an absolute right.
The master is the right person.
This is a ruling party of the state.
My brother in Syracuse, he returned last year, has no way to adapt to Chinese society.

I wonder how different it is in the US though

I guess a key difference is I can burn a flag here in the US and not worry about the knock on my door in the middle of the night

You are thinking too much man..

Just mention "Tiananmen square massacre" in the China Twitter would send them to your door knocking.

They wouldn't wait till the middle of the night either.

Kia was my "commute" to Florida car after my daughter took my 2008 civic. No longer need to do unexpected trips to Florida.
