Opinion on Z4 1M style front bumper
What do you guys think? Something different from the standard bumper and the M sport bumper.

I could grow to like it . . . but I probably prefer the M Sport, which is what we have on our little Z. I am also in Austin with a very similar mod list to yours!

1M Style front bumper
Interesting look that brings the style right up to date, but seems to make the car look taller imho. I prefer the standard bumper with carbon front splitters.

Yeah, I haven't bought it yet, just want opinions before buying either the M sport bumper or the 1M style one. It may look lower than the picture shows. Hopefully those side vents are working vents and not just for show, direct air into the oil cooler on the passenger side.
Also thinking about doing an one off upgrade to the oil cooler since its running 240ish after driving the car for awhile, want to lower the oil temp. Vintage, what tune do you have installed?

I actually think this looks better on the 1M... Maybe the M6 style would be a better match for the Z4? Or something with a lip like on the non-M-sport bumper, but more aggressive.

Duraflex makes this.
Direct link: http://www.duraflexbodykits.com/2009...-p-555366.html Or other sites sell it as well, e.g. CarID, etc. I actually kind of like it over the current M-Sport, as it makes our hairdresser car slightly more masculine . Not sure about aftermarket fitment otherwise I'd jump on this… Who's going to guinea pig? MTHuynh23? Wish they had more/actual images as opposed to photoshop/rendering. |

The 1M front bumper style with the Vorsteiner lip? I think it looks more aggressive.

Did you actually just call our car's virility into question?

By the way, there is a thermostat that controls when the oil is routed through the oil cooler and 240F is the operation temp decided on by BMW (speculation.. to minimize carbon build up on the intake valves). Personally, I think the oil cooler upgrade would only be beneficial if you exceed 260F oil temperature, and it would be worthwhile to get more tech on whether a lower oil operating temperature will cause more carbon build up or other issues down the line. Back on topic, personally I prefer the OEM M sport bumper. I think the vertical line near the outer edge of the bumper is out of character for the car |

I found an aftermarket oiler cooler that is same size width and height but deeper. Just need to adapt something to hold it to original location.

I like the lower portion myself. But imho the existing creases on the bumper and the "fangs" from the 1m don't flow well together. I personally wouldn't bring the fangs up that high so the creases can remain clean looking.
To each their own! Good luck! |

Nice design.
Makes the car different from the M and standard bumper pack. Costs the Same as the OEM M Sport when all is said and done. I too would like to see one installed in real life.

This looks different and different can be good.
My concern is, the 1's ride height looks higher than the Z, that bumper looks like it may sit lower then you add that lip to the bottom. You may end up with a road chisel. |

No. It's a different thermostat that opens at 200, not 240. If I can find the link, I will try to post it.
