Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe w/ HKS BOV
Hi all!
I just recently bought a 2011 z4 and in the process of hooking it up. After reading up reviews after reviews about different types of N54 charge pipes. I learned that Evolution Racewerks is the only company out there that make a specific charge pipe for the z4 N54 motor layout because the pipe is longer than the traditional layout. The next hard part was deciding on which BOV(Blow off Valve) to go with. A lot of members here go with the TIAL BOV but many say that if you want the louder sound go with the HKS BOV. Of course I want with the HKS because I wanted everyone and their mothers on my streets know that I have TWINZ I decided to move forward with an order for a Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe w/ HKS SSQV 4 Blow Off Valve from ER. From the moment the package arrived, I was already happy that the package got to my door steps safely as it traveled from Cali to Orlando,FL. When it comes to ordering anything for my car I'm expecting the highest customer service all the way down to the packaging details. I must say that I am very impressed so far. My shipment was packed very well to insure no damage were to happen to my charge pipe and BOV during shipment. Prior to this I owned a 2001 Honda Prelude and was out of the game for about 7 years. I'm recently coming back into the scene and make note that I never worked on a N54 motor. Inside the packaging content is a set of precise instructions on how to install the charge pipe, ER Charge Pipe with the HKS Flange and HKS BOV already attached. The only thing I had to do next is to follow the instructions and install my new piece. I must say that it was one of the easiest installs I've done. It's just almost as simple as throwing an intake on a Honda. The only challenge that I faced was removing metal clamp on the original piping. The set of instructions included will guide you on how to remove the metal clamp on the original plastic charge pipe. After everything was installed, I must say I felt like a kid on Christmas when I heard that HKS BOV go off. It was pretty early in the morning instead of having chickens clucking, the neighborhood can listen to my BOV lol (u get the picture). I've been on e90post for a lil bit but on the 3 series forum so I'm kinda new here. I will be more active writing up more reviews as I hook up my new ride. Overall, Kudo's to Evolution Racewerks for a quality built product and customer service. I look forward to purchasing that FMIC(Front Mount Intercooler) and N54 Carbon Engine Cover. I will post pictures up tomorrow of my complete install. http://evolutionracewerks.com/node/231

This may sound sound stupid, but I will ask anyways.
What functions do the Charge Pipe and Blow off value perform? Are there any performance upgrades received after the install or just a louder exhaust sound?

Unless it is already standard on my 35i stock N54 engine, I do not have it.

Great mod list. Will be doing the same for my Z, but I'll probably opt for Forge diverter valves. As much as I love the noise of a BOV, my understanding is that they (slightly) hinder performance by releasing the boost to atmosphere instead of recirculating it to the intake tract, thereby "wasting" that air.

You have a stock plastic charge pipe that comes standard. We all opted for an upgrade. Go watch DKZTT video link in the above =)
