Unhappy Woke up and got this....

So parking in new york city sucks as it is. I woke up this morning and looked at the front of my car. The bumper has 4, 1 inch nicks at the nose and a quarter inch of the lip chewed off. I am currently, leasing the car and have full coverage on the car. What do you guys recommend me doing? I know when i return the car at the end of the lease, they won't charge me anything for a quarter inch. Look at the pics below.

A little touch up paint and all's good.

Agreed. I would try one of the touch up paints. If you are happy with it, you are out around thirty bucks if memory serves. If it isn't acceptable you can always then have a body shop fix the bumper and the work you did with the touch up paint would be wiped away anyway. Good luck.

I'm considering dr paint chip / something similar. How does it stack up against OEM touch up

You use your oem paint with dr. paint chip. it's just a technique to get a smoother result. I've tried it and fond it pretty good, but not really easy to get a great result.

Which kit do you recommend from chip doctor. Can you provide a little more info on your process of using both OEM and dr

Sorry about that! For what it is worth, my last 3 series had hairline crack in the rear bumper from someone hitting the car and I was only charged $100 at lease return.

Don't worry about it, and put on the touch up as others suggested.

What kind of weird vandalism is that? It almost looks like you got some rockchips. Best of luck w/ the repair.

Or an SUV with a trailer hitch.

My old integra, which was often street parked in NYC, had a square hole in the hood from when an SUV backed up over it.

OP you are a brave soul for street parking your Z4!

Ya, that's a better guess. It doesn't look intentional but sucks w/ all the stupid, inconsiderate ppl out there.

I'd definitely recommend the Dr. color Chip system. I was skeptical when I ordered, but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get a great result.

My chips do seem pretty deep in and fuck the lip is just heart breaking. I only had the car for 3-4 months now and have a long way to go before returning her in. I'm usually strategic about parking spot ( either last car or first car with one other car behind or infront) I was planning on going out later but plans were canceled and was too lazy to move it into my tiny ass drive way.

I'm reading the OEM does a great job filling up the hole but doesnt't match and the DCC kit seems to do job but on smaller ones. I'm pulling the trigger right now on DCC.

I work in nyc, and i park it in the street in front of my shop. I walked out one day to see my front plate ripped off and those same knicks in practically the same spots. Mine was done by a pickup with a tow hitch. Im guessing the same applies for your damages.

At first, I was very pissed but now its just meh. I overlook the small things at this point. 2 years and 40k miles later, still have fun driving it.

Recap: dont sweat it, man. It could have been WAY worse!
