bimmette - I'll handle this one if I may.

You certainly made improvements, but not to the degree we were each hoping for. You see, you used the word "phase" in the above which suggests a distinct period in a process of change.

Are you so negative as to suggest they will not be together for the rest of their lives? Or are you so morbid that you think this will be the last phase of OP's life and wish him to dwell only on his own mortality and not celebrate this joyous occasion?

Either way, away from this thread you poisonous snake!

OP - I kid, I really am very happy for you!

I like this analysis. However, I said NEXT phase, not FINAL phase. Phase 3, which you ignored completely, is PROFITS - obviously. Each phase gets better than the last! Right OP! I am the most positive person in here.

Were you nervous about *when* the right time was? I know for me, I wound up pulling the ring box out while she was distracted when we were by the beach and putting it behind my back so there was no way I could delay any further...it was do or die at that point, then it was just a matter of finding a way to propose. Good times. Because I'm pretty sure I could have made excuses most of the day and just really worked myself up into some high state of nervousness.

Funny thing - she thought for sure I was taking her to ribfest that day - she had no clue before we left. She said she started to clue in once we picked up the ready to go picnic lunch at a winery and headed to the beach though, since that's unlike me.
Thanks so much for sharing that with me Joekerr. It sure was a beautiful spot. I was definitely nervous for a couple reasons:

1) I started getting a little anxious about 3 days before, just hoping that the overall day would go well. With the sun setting around 6:30 and us not getting over to the coast until 2:30, it didn't leave a whole lot of time in the day to accomplish everything I wanted. We live about 2 hours away and couldn't leave for the beach until about 12 that afternoon. Surprisingly, everything did go well. From the drive to the timing and the weather, it was all absolutely perfect.

2) And yes! I was definitely nervous about the right "moment" on the beach. Her dad had already told her grandparents that it was happening that day. We had plans to stay with her grandparents that night since they have a house there. So I didn't want to risk going to their house without popping the question yet, and somehow they bring it up in conversation thinking it happened. Also, on the beach there were A LOT more people than I anticipated. So I had to wait for a tiny window where the field of view had no one else and just had to go for it. It was a little faster than I would have preferred, but I think it turned out great. I had two different couples basically sitting in beach chairs pointed right at as to watch the sun go down. They congratulated us of course, but it was definitely a little nerve racking having spectators haha

Haha I'm sure it will come, but it definitely won't bother me. I have heard countless older guys throughout my life tell me how marriage wrecked them or I should stay single all my life. I do feel sorry their life turned out that way, but I am so excited about the life I now will share with her. Thank you!

Congratulations! Great video as well.

Since jtodd_fl brought up criticism..... i'll start, though i'm pretty sure i speak for everyone. Here it is..... it appears you forgot the best clip at the end. You know, on the blankets, after it was dark. Though you might not of had a proper IR camera with you. Hopefully that's the reason because forgetting to add in the bonus footage of videos is a big no-no.

Seriously, this was a cool video and an excellent idea.

Hope you guys have many, many, happy years together!

Did anyone else read this in a Donald Trump voice or is it just me?

"I have a plan, the best plan really. Nobody makes a plan better than me."
And then goes on to tell you nothing about said plan.

I have noticed the more I try to record things on a phone or other device, the less I actually "remember" the event with my own eyes. This turned out to be so much fun that I felt like I wanted to share it with as many people as I can. But that is very uncharacteristic of me.

Thank you so much! You are also very welcome. Like I said a few posts up in this reply, it is very uncharacteristic of me. I don't tend to express myself very often, let alone share anything personal. This is why I started out the OP with how I used to almost poke fun at those guys in the movies. But I get it now, I could share this with anyone and still be happy.

I try to respect both people running, and will respect whoever is elected, but that is one thing Trump does that "grinds my gears" lol

While this is an amazing moment in your life together, let me guarantee that it will pale in comparison to the birth of your child.

p.s. Better get written, notarized permission, in triplicate, before you film THAT moment.

Thank you so much! I did ask her before I posted here, and was somewhat hesitant to do it. But the warm reception is greatly appreciated!

I know, it sure doesn't look it on the video. She had an idea that it might be coming several days before, and I think and I didn't really have the element of surprise anymore. I wished I had been able to capture more angles of that moment. But being there, our voices were both cracking as we were tearing up. While she doesn't look surprised, I have never heard her voice sound so happy

I actually read that in Trudeau's voice... You know, the one where he says - "yyyaasssss..."

My personal favorite though? The one where they ask him - "if elected, what would his first day in the Parliament be like... Hysterical...

Oh I can't even begin to imagine that moment. I'm not sure if I would want to film that or not. I said a few posts ago that the more we try to capture with phones and cameras, I feel like the less we truly remember the moment. We will see as that time comes. Thank you!
