So is the DCT programming & flywheel different in the 35is?
Have read a few reviews that mentioned the Z4 35is DCT programming has been 'revised' for quicker shifts aided by a lighter-weight dual-mass flywheel.
Eg: http://mt.kargo.com/entry/view/id/34...be18bc3cf38c9b which is actually quite a well written & articulate review. Also: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/bmw/201...s-ar82816.html Is this true or just journalistic license? Last edited by Alext; 08-16-2010 at 04:26 AM.. |

Anyone tried both cars back to back, would be interesting to hear people's opinions on the trans (I'm betting there would be no or very little discernable difference)?

I read something similar about the front swaybar that was thicker on the "is". And as I think that the E89 really can use a sturdier swaybar I checked it out at my local dealer but it also turned out to be the same partnumber on both cars. Grtz |

So in summary the Z4 35is differences are:
Slightly more power, different exhaust, M Package and suspension as standard and some interior bits. Silver mirror caps Steering programming is different. Plus the option of any interior trim (Msport pack on 35i you get shadow carbon trim no choice). Unknown is whether the auto programming is different or suspension programming. I can still change my order, but I got such a brilliant deal I'm a bit reluctant too. At the end of the day I won't save much at all. |

Agreed - although I have yet to drive one - positive steering response is always high on my list (obviously since it's something you are always going to benefit from).

I took my old 3 MPS out for spin this AM, and was shocked at how light and floppy the steering was in comparison.
The wheel felt spindly, the resistance was non-existant, all up a very dissatisfying feel. Just need a reason to hit up the Zed now to feel better again. Do we need milk?

I took it out to get chinese and some happy meals for the kids...
Who cares about the food - it was a great drive for an hour. I'll have to schedule in a few more drives - its back to work for this poor sucker in another week. Then I'll only have two 30km commutes through the mountains and countryside every day.

I still kept the top down though. You have to slow down to activate it...
