WOW! This thing is beautiful...

But just out of curiosity, why didn't they make the 1er their GT3 race car? Why the Z4?

You can follow the series on the official website - http://gt3europe.com/index.php. The Sunday races are run in two one hour heats. The Z4s won the first heat. You can watch the video of the race (#1) on the web site. I'm not positive but I think under the rules the winning cars are handicapped for the next race by being placed at the back of the grid, so the Z4s didn't do as well in the second heat. The Z4s race against some pretty heavy duty machinery - - V8s, V10s, and V12s - - but they are all "equalized" (primarily thru intake restrictor plates) to around 500 hp plus or minus. Don't how BMW got away with it but the GT3 Z4s are homologated with the V8 out of the e90 M3 - - essentially the same motor I believe as raced in the American Le Mans M3s, good for around 480 hp. It would be more meaningful, to me anyway, if they raced with the N54 motor as in the stock Z4 35i. After all, the GT3 Porsches run the six cylinder boxer with about 430 hp. I think BMW Motorsports could come up with a racing version of the N54 that could be competitive.
Totally agree with you. I was thinking that the Z4 with a V8 is a cheat even with handicapped weight or intake restrictor.

Anyways, I wish the production z4 looks half as good.

Besides, does any1 know what BBS wheels on this Z4?
What a gorgeous car.

This.

Unless they upgraded it to 4.4L now, like the M3 GTS? If so I believe this would be the first application of a "P65B44", at least the first I have heard of. Should be good for 550hp+ easily, though a mandated restrictor could very well keep it way under that.

Just watched the first race in it's entirety, Z4 finish 1,3,4? Fun to watch, I think i could really get into this class. Thanks for the info and link.

Looks sik! I'm going to have to start watching this series.

Thanks.

Do you know if it the GTS motor itself, or an actual racing motor based upon it? I.e. does it have the motorsport cross-plane crank like the P65B40, and the motorsport heads, valvetrain, induction system, etc?

Let's not fool around. BMW, this is what the Z4M needs to be. I think you'd sell a few.

Sorry for bumping an old thread... But has anyone developed a widebody kit like this for the Z4? Have a friend that was looking into getting something like this.

Thanks.
