My understanding from the F30 forums is that there are hardware and software differences between the CIC and NBT navigation systems, and that kit looks like it is just a jumper harness. I THINK there are a lot more parts needed than what is shown there

Also, do we know if any of the 2014 or 2015 Z4 come with the NBT? My GUESS is that if the Z4 is CIC only, it is a non starter.

By the way, what functionality do you want from NBT anyway? The online widgets aren't that impressive, and the Apps work fine for CIC.

What's the advantage? the touchpad ?

NBT Nav maps are cool & colorful compared to the maps we have in CIC. CIC Nav maps look like outline maps. NBT came out in July 2012 and I believe newer Z4s have NBT.

You are correct. I contacted Bimmerretrofit and there are other parts including display required for NBT retrofit.

Personally, when I get a 3 series loaner with the NBT navigation system I notice some cosmetic differences in the maps and some marginal functionality changes (like the weather display) but I am definitely not rushing out to spend several thousand to switch over my 335.

My car is not NBT. It is CIC with latest map update "North American Premium - 2014 Version 1A" installed. As you can see in the picture, map looks grey - I can see traffic info in yellow/red. Nothing wrong with the display as I can play DVDs and videos from iPhone 4 snap-in fine.
NBT is nice to have .. not a biggie :-)

Cuddapah, I think I know why your nav map is grey. Open your nav map, press the options button at your iDrive knob, under Map select "settings" and uncheck "traffic conditions/grey map". that should get you back to your color map.

For my F30 with the CIC, I needed the "BMW Apps" feature to make those apps usable.
