The 2013 Boxster

I didn't see any threads on it, so I thought I'd start one up.

Personally I'm very impressed. It's always been praised as one of the best drivers cars money can buy and now it looks better than ever.

It's also on the wrong forum section. It belongs in the universal forums.

In regards to the new Boxster, it looks good but it now has an electric steering as well like the 991. I would have preferred if they kept that signature Porsche steering feel. I love the looks except the spoiler connecting to the taillight doesn't look that great to me. The new Cayman should look great and was considering it instead of the Z4 but that rear end and new steering really pushed the decision toward the Z4.

I know it's but we had threads discussing the new SLK when that came out so I figured I'd start a discussion here about this as well.

A Boxster S similarly equipped to my 35i is ~$15K more for ED. Maybe if it was a hard top vert and more closly priced it would be a tougher decision. Add to that being looked down upon by the ober Porsche owners. Sum total - not worth it for me. I have no longing for any Porsches at the moment. I'm happy with my Z and will stick with the BMW group.

If I did have a wad of $$ burning a hole in my pocket - for a car which didn't need to be my daily driver, it would be for an sexy topless Italian model hailing from Maranello. Now that would be estrema fantastico! I'll take the red one please!

Since we're talking about Maranello, I think, depending on how much money you have, the California presents a tough choice between it and the Z4 because they are many similarities between the two.

Sorry, you are mistaken my friend Google it and check it out on Youtube and you'll see it's a real Ferrari alright. Plus wait for the mid-cycle refresh coming up pretty soon. More hp and better handling.

Cheers.

I'd be happy with either. One nice thing about the California is that it's still available with a 6 sp MT and could almost be a daily driver. 458 Spyder DCT only - but it is sooooo stimulating to the brain.

My thoughts exactly one day soon I may make that dream come true more pictures in one of my garages (mind you only when I close my eyes right now).

Still it be a great car to cruse thru Germany and Italy lets see what would the rental cost be for 4 to 6 weeks $20,000- I wonder .... be a lot less then we lost in the market last year and the memories it would leave one with ... I wonder if one should advertise "Seeking driving companion for European driving Mother of all Road Trips" Hmmm something to think about

Turns out one can rent it for 1,300 Euro ~ $1,700-/Day ---> Well that would reduce it to a week or 10 day rental still what a blast it would be

The new The Enzo Ferrari Museum was opened a few weeks ago in Modena, Italy designed in sleek lines and the roof is like one of the car hoods. I guess the unique thing about the location is it is the birthplace of the founder of this fine car and the museum. I saw a program on the German DW last week it was an interesting story.

An arial photo of the museum the house and the first Ferrari factory that is part of the car museum is below.

Apparently some of the new Boxsters are to be built by VW: http://www.leftlanenews.com/volkswag...is-summer.html

Thou shan't utter ze 'P' word among this lot.

The Boxster has grown and improved, better interior quality and looks sharper overall. We may even see 'MEN' driving this one. Would I consider one? No. BMW for life ....err, and an Audi

Most people already probably know, but for those who don't, Porsche is now a subsidiary of VW along with several other companies including Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini. VW has been outsourcing various parts all along anyway, so in theory there shouldn't be any difference.

Hi teagueAMX,

That is correct and they are now the leader in the car manufacturing section I believe if I am not mistaking. No wonder with all those other car companies they have taken over.

You may recall I mentioned some time back my 2009 factory visits of BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and VW. Our first ever new car was a 1961 red VW Beetle, I recall it just costs lightly more then $3,000 at that time.

Well when I visited the VW Glass Factory in Dresden, Germany like everywhere else we were not allowed to even take our camera into the factory. I recall having to take it all the way back into the parking lot to the far end to lock it up in my car.

Anyway, a close relative of mine e-mailed me a video clip that clearly shows the manufacturing (some of it) of VW Top Line car.

I think you may enjoy watching it ---> Click here to go to the Off Topic Photo and Video Forum Section to see it enjoy!

Nobody makes a car as beautiful as the Italians do.
