Zaino'ed up the Z/ Also got my new stubby
Thanx to this forum, I purchased the Zaino Ultimate Show Car Kit- $116.95 for the Zaino store. Over 2 days I put in appx 8 work hours (not with dry time) of detail time and the results are fantastic. The photos do not show the true depth of the shine and mirror image in my Space Gray Metallic paint. I followed the directions to the tee and even called Zaino Tech services before I started, as I have never claybar'ed a car before and did not want to make a mistake on the Z.
Applications: 1. Complete Car Wash with Dawn Liquid detergent to remove all the old (Mequires) wax. 2. Complete dry with softest, edgeless cotton or fiber towels available. Dry every nook and crannie of the Z to remove all possible hidden dirt. 3. Clay Bar complete car with Zaino Claybar and use Zaino Car Wash/Water mix for lubication- Mix 2 caps of Zaino Car wash per 12 Oz of water in a spary bottle. Keys to (my) Claybar success a. Claybar very small areas at 1 time. b. Wet down the working area continuously at all times. c. DO NOT PUT ANY pressure on the Claybar, AT ALL- The Claybar should glide over the the paint surface like ice on the paint. d. Constantly turn the claybar when debris is picked up. e. Rinse very very well the area just claybar'ed. 4. Extra detailed Z wash when the Claybar application is complete. Wash with Zaino Car Wash. Use the concentrate sparingly. Follow the mixing directions. 5. See Item #2 above for Drying. Zaino Application in Order 6. Zaino Gloss Enhancer- Coat 1- USE VERY SPARINGLY. Spritz on very lightly and wipe dry with softest, edge free cotton or fiber towels. Constantly turn the application/ drying towels over and over. 7. Z5- Coat 2- Z-5 PRO Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches- My car had VERY FEW, if any swirl and other marks/scratches BUT Zaino tech services recommends 2 light coats of Z5 1st. As with Gloss Enhancer use the Z5 sparingly. Apply the Z5 with the Zaino supplied application pad. See the U Tube video on Applying Zaino products. Less is truely more. I let the Z5 dry for 1:30- 2 hours in appx 60-65 degree weather, inside my garage, before buffing off the Z5. 8. Z 5 should easily buff off with a light touch. Agian as with #2 above buff dry with the softest, edgeless cotton or fiber towels. 9. Coat 3- Gloss Enhancer 10. Coat 4- Z5. 11. Coat 5- Gloss Enhancer Day 2 10. Zaino 6th coat BUT this time use the Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes 11- 7th Coat Gloss Enhance 12. 8th coat of Z-2 PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes 13. 9th Final coat of Gloss Enhancer. Total coats: 5 coats of Gloss Enhance 2 coats of Z5- PRO Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches 2 Coats of Z2- PRO Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes This is the best product I have used. I am a believer. FYI- I also switched from Lexol leather cleaner and leather treatment to the Zaino cleaner and "Leather In a Bottle". I super cleaned the seats with the clarner and then applkied 2 coats on my Kansas Black Extended Leather. The leather already feels softerand better then ever. AND THE LEATHER SMELL is fantastic. Thanx forum members for this GREAT Product lead. Alos put on my new Stubby. Love it.

You're preaching to the choir. I used Zaino for the first time last year and was blown away. It's all I use now. Although, I finished off with CS after the last coat of Z2. but you're right...plan on spending the whole day with it. worth it tho.

Hey, you've got red calipers just like me! Did you paint your calipers or have someone do it for you?

Red Brake Calipers- I completed this project 2 months ago. I spend another 8 hours (2 hours per caliper) cleaning, degreasing, sanding, preping the calipers for 3 light coats of VHT High Heat Red Caliper paint. I completed this project with the calipers on the car. Careful prep and lots of masking tape made the job doable. The paint has held up extremely well. While doing this project, it morphed into many more as projects all at once:
1. Brakes Calipers painted Red 2. I cleaned, preped etc and painted the backing plates and wheel hubs high gloss silver 3. Super cleaned, waxed, ploished and buffed the wheels. 4. I bought new center caps and made my own Black Carbon Fiber to cover the Bimmer Blue for the wheels and all roundles and emblems. 5. De Badged the car. I love the total over all look and believe the projects were well worth the time and efforts. I do wish I had 313 wheels but can have everything.

Yeah, it really seems to repel dirt. I wash it once a week anyway, but it def stays cleaner.

Japrnes1- That 5 series hood looks fantastic.
I have not yet been tested the repelling dirt factor yet. I will follow up as soon as I dare to let the ZED out of the garage and get dirty. JTS1981 and Crazykoh- bring the Z's over. I am only up in Mass on Cape Cod. I just drove to Raleigh and back, 1600 miles, via NYC in 37 hours, picking my son up from NC State-The Wolfpak.

Well, the pollen thing is just the time of year. But black is the toughest color to keep looking clean. I feel your pain.
