You practically have to hang yourself from the arms to give it room. Perhaps unbolting the sway bar will give you some more edge.

I unbolted the rear sway from the control arm and also unbolted the control arm. This will allow you to lower the suspension enough to remove and install the spring. Also, remember that the KW's use the rubber on the top of the stock spring on the bottom of the KW spring.

I've had a spring out, had the damper, anti roll bar drop link, brake caliper, disc and stone guard loose and top bush bolt out.
Slipped bar into the aluminium plate the spring sit on, then sit on bar whilst jiggling spring out or in. |

I have a foot operated hydraulic press for the front shocks |

I've never seen the need for spring compressors in the rear. If you disconnect the shock you should be able to pop out the spring with a lever - this allows the lower arm to extend a bit lower - the spring really has no pressure on it - just needs to slide out of the cup. Just exercise a smidge of care.

well , after much cursing and struggling with large bars the spring is out , I feel undoing the sway bar drop link which attaches to the control arm just made that much of a difference, the spring literally came out sideways at 90 degrees to original position
Now the problem is how do I get the spring back in ! , the Eibachs look only slightly shorter than stock , I'm defo going to need some short spring compressors to get this spring back in as even stood on the trailing arm there doesnt look enough room to get the spring back in Can anyone offer any advice or method how they got the spring back in ? Ive done other spring changes before but OMG the rears on this Z4 are a total pig |
