Low Nav Voice

Hello. I have a 2012 Z428i with factiry NAV. I have addressed this issue in the past here on the forum. I have been back to my BMW dealer twice with my complaint of low voice volume from the "NAV Lady". Last week I tried once again to use voice NAV control. I clicked on the button on the steering wheel and said Navigation. The screen opened. I said destination and the NAV lady spoke with instructions but I could hardly hear her. My motor was running, but the radio was off. Th is the same problem I experienced last summer when trying to hear the nav voice giving directions. Several on the forum said to turn up the volume when nav lady speaks. How do I know when she is going to speak? Also if the radio is on, the radio volume goes up but not the nav voice.

Yesterday I Googled this problem and many threads came up on various BMW forums. The most suggested fix was to leave the radio off and to adjust the volume of the NAV lady as she is speaking. The level will stay where you put it and be programmed into your key FOB.

Can anybody confirm that this works? Any other suggestions. Thank you.

Yes this is the correct way to do it. The currently sounding audio is the one influenced by the volume control. So, set a route, drive it, the nav will talk, and when it does, alter the voice volume using the volume control. Done. Simple.

Thank you ManiacGT for your prompt response. I will give it a try. My BMW dealer just looks at you like they have never heard of this problem. Google it and you will see many threads on this issue. Thanks again for your response.

ManiacGT Can you please direct me to the page in the manual where it covers this? I have downloaded the manual and of course I have the paper manual as well. This is a 2012 model. I am the kind of owner who reads the manuals and I have viewed all of the videos on line but never seen anything on volume adjustment of the nav voice. Thank you very much.

ManiacGT. I have located the information regarding volume setting on page 142 of my manual. It appears under telephone not navigation. I will give this a go. Thanks again.

I have found "Adjusting the volume of voice instruction" information into the "Navigation" section (p 132).
Please see below.

SchwziZ4 Thank You. My attemps to turn up the NAV ladys voice was done while the radio was playing therefore I just turned up to radio and not the NAV lady. It's amazing how many times I asked my dealer the same question as I just asked on this forum. And the score is dealer zero, Fellow Z4 owners 1. Drives ya crazy.

Turn off then turn on the NAT voice while in navigation mode will prompt the "NAV lady" to speak. Turn your volume knob when she does.

Hit the voice button on the steering wheel and say "go to address" (I think that's the command). She'll spit out "please say the street name blah blah blah..." But it's a long response. Should give you plenty of time to tweak the volume.

This is why I love this forum... sooner or later someone will ask a question that has nagged me (but I've been too lazy to research) - and another person(s) will have the answer.

Thank you Colorado (for asking the question)... and thank you ManiacGT, SchweiZ4, HpDellNestle & Crazykoh for taking the time to solve this minor but annoying mystery for me.

Darbs330--- Amen. Thank you for your response. Within 2 or 3 hours of my posting, I had 2 responses with the correct answer. I went to my dealer twice with this question and got no answer even though it is right there in the owners manual. I read my manual, but somehow missed it. Believe it or not, I downloaded the owners manual when I got my car and I refer to it often on my computer. I went to the manual and guess what. There is no page 132. I will have to get the paper edition out of my car when I go to storage on Saturday. It's always something.
