Ski Passthrough

Ok winter is here, and there is a slope but 10 min drive from my house. Its not the biggest 15 runs but being so close its a no brainer to go for a quick few hours during the week.

I am a boarder, will a snowboarder fit through the passthrough or only skies, the width of my board just might be an issue.

Ski's only. The passthru really isn't that large at all.

Just got back from fiddling around, it was bigger than I thought and was able to put my snowboard in, could have fit a 2nd or a pair of skies too.

Wow, whenever I've tried I can't get it to fit, perhaps depends on the board. I take it you had to put the board at an angle to get it through?

As someone who doesn't really drive the car in the rain (if I can help it), the thought of taking it on salt and snow packed roads to go skiing or snowboarding hurts my heart - ha.

More power to you for braving it year round!

2011 BMW Z4 35i  [10.00]
did you have to take the bindings off? and does it get in the way of the gear lever?

mine was click in bindings so it is quite flat. Yes you would have to put it in at an angle and there is no rubbing on the sides.

Z4 is my only car and the bottom of the mountain is significantly below the snow line here so there is no salt on the 15 min ride to the station. YOu do take a 5 min lift from the base up to the 20 run resort where yes, there is significant amount of snow.

Is this in Europe or the USA?

While eastern Shandong province is nothing like Switzerland, they actually use snow cannons at the ski "resorts", so it doesn't have to be snowing for us to be able to ski. And it rarely does anyway because winters are rather dry in northern China.

I drive the Z4 almost all year, but avoid rain as well as the most "salty" winter weeks of the year as well.

Geneva, Mount Jura to be exact, where you ski overlooking the lake. Its on the opposite side of the Alps. Now driving way up into the Alps is a different story altogether.

Is yours made of sugar or something?

My car still looks like new after 3 New Hampshire winters. My only other vehicle is a Ducati, which I don't ride after it snows. The "B" in BMW should give you a clue as to whether the manufacturer has any experience with exposing its products to snow.

I still have the original BMW bag that attaches inside the cabin between the seats so the ski's etc are not exposed, this includes a bar that sits in the boots to lift up the ski's so the remain level !!!! Guess what I will never use it !!!!!!

I can accept driving my car in all weathers, including winter snow !!! What I would never do BUT BMW did! is drive my car on a beach and never cleaned it after so when I bought it the underside was badly corroded.......(it was a staff car before I bought it)

Yeah I even stopped parking next to the ocean like I used to:

Not because of the random admirers, but because I discovered that when the wind is strong, a layer of delicious sea salt will build up on the windscreen. It probably gets in everywhere if you park there long enough...
