Michellin Super Sport TOO LOUD!!

Just replaced original RFT's on my front tires. The road noise is terrible...
About 100% louder than the RFT. Almost sounds Out of round!
interesting that i replaced the rears 4 months ago and didn't notice any particular noise change.
just in case i had BMW align the fronts (needed it anyway) as i thought maybe it was off. Nope, no change.
Are you experiencing this??

It's a stretch but maybe have your control arms (upper and lower) looked at.

I recently got a set of Michelin A/S 3, albeit not PSS, but they are rated as being very quiet and similar to the PSS in a lot of aspects. However, the tires roared like crazy. I thought it was the tires as my alignment and balancing was spot on (checked multiple times at the dealer). Turns out, my rear upper control arm had to be replaced (they didn't tell me what was wrong with it...?) and after that, the noise level has came down significantly.

So, just because your alignment and balancing is off, doesn't necessarily mean your tire is rotating true which may be the cause of the road noise.

Then you should be hearing the exhaust, not the tires

My PSS are so much quieter and better than my RFTs

Is the noise on one side only, or both fronts.

There is clearly something wrong. PSS MUCH quieter than runflats.

If you are working with a dealer try to get a ride in a 235, since they come with similar size front PSS from the factory. That could help you understand what noise level is normal, and get the dealer on board to try and fix it.

My GUESS is that it is going to be a very one-off issue with the tire or a suspension component that will require some diagnosis

Different car for me but MPSS are the best tyre I've used in years and very quiet compared to all brands of RFT, something else must be wrong here?

I replaced my RFTs with Michelin PSS and went wider too. You are right in a sense that noises are much more pronounced with non-RFTs since the stock RFTs masked them with all their noise! Perhaps you are just hearing these?
