Hell Yes, the BMW N20 Engine is Tuneable Says Kelleners with 294 HP / 310 LB-FT Tune
BIMMERPOST NEWS Hell Yes, the BMW N20 Engine is Tuneable Says Kelleners with 294 HP / 310 LB-FT Tune BMW's new 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine (the "N20") may be down on cylinders and displacement compared to the inline 6 cylinder (N52) that it replaces across BMW's model range, but even in factory form, it matches the outgoing N52's horsepowers and features an extra 30 lb-ft of torque (in the X1 xDrive28i, X3 xDrive28i, 528i, Z4 sDrive28i, and upcoming F30 328i). And what the N20 loses in smoothness and top-end pull compared to the outgoing N52, it now looks like it will easily make up for in tuneability. Kelleners Sport has released the specs of its N20 tune and the figures are impressive! The Kelleners N20 tune achieves 294hp and 310lb-ft torque, a +49hp and +52 lb-ft gain over factory quoted figures. See the full specs below: On the X1 sDrive20i/xDrive20i, X3 xDrive20i, 520i, and Z4 sDrive20i models (which get a lower powered N20 configuration from the factory): On the X1 xDrive28i, X3 xDrive28i, 528i, Z4 sDrive28i, and upcoming F30 328i models (which get the higher powered N20 configuration from the factory): These power figures were achieved with their tune only and no other modifications. No doubt we'll see more aftermarket tuners releasing their N20 tunes, especially as the F30 328i hits the market. |

The N54 in the 35i with DCT has been tested at 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. I think someone already Dynod the N20 and it came in higher than 240 HP. It might have been 260. That would leave a gaping hole of about 72HP difference. A whopping 28% HP advantage for the N54! |

N20B20 Turbo Upgrade
So I have been searching all over the web for turbo upgrade options for the Z4 28i with the N20 engine and sequential turbo. Most of you will be fine with the 300bhp retunes to that engine, but I want a Z4 with the better weight balance, no understeer, and more power.
So we all found the list of re-tune options so i won't post them. I found two solid turbo upgrade options. Mosselman Turbo Systems MSL 360 Pack (bigger turbine wheel) will give 360bhp Mosselman is in europe. https://www.mosselmanturbo.com/perfo...28i-e89-245hp/ Stateside I have found N54 Tuning.. N20/N26 PURE Stage 2 387 Cv power = ~382whp 61 Kgm torque = ~440wtq Recomended JB4 tune. https://www.n54tuning.com/n20/n26-pure-stage-2.html As soon as i have permission i will start a thread so others can keep track of options and report back with their choice and experience. |
