Replacig two subs behind the seats
Hi I\'m trying to get more kick out of the subs. I heard its standard 8\" and heard that it makes a difference if I change to JL subs with same size. Local car stereo guy tells me. Any opinion or advise? Thanks.

I have twin JL 10" subs in my old MB 560SL, in a specially-made enclosure. With nice amplification, I can tell you they ROCK! Not the loudest, mind you, but clean clean thump. And certainly loud enough, unless you're into the SPL competition thing. Those sound systems are ridiculously loud, but usually sound pretty crappy, though.
There are different levels of JL subs for the same diameter, so make sure you talk to someone who knows what they're doing. I'd be interested in your findings. We have the Premium Sound system in the 2010 Z4, so it's pretty good. But the bass could certainly be better. Just not sure how big a pain or expense it would be to upgrade. |
