New York E-ZPass problems?

Anyone else in the greater NY area who has a NY E-ZPass have problems with their Z4? I have my tag mounted on the top of the windshield, and the tag readers haven't been able to read the tag. I tried holding it up to the middle of the windshield and it still mis-read.

Do the Z windshields have some metalic coating which causes problems for the E-Zpass?

(I tried searching, couldn't find anything).

Thanks.

I have the tag that mounts on the front bumper and have had no problems. I wouldn't be surprised if the windshield is blocking the signal. Call E-Z Pass and request the external tag.

Never had problems in the Z. Could you have a bad tag?

Oh geeze... I'm avoiding putting the front plate on my car (in CT). I'd rather pay the $25 ticket if I get one that have to put the front plate on... which includes adding the external E-Zpass tag.

The good news is that I have my license plate number registered with E-ZPass, so they charge me just the same (no fee or penatly) with or without the tag (using their lane cameras), but I'm not sure how many times I can get away with that before they start to complain about not having a working tag.

They did just send me brand new tags, I'll try switching it out with the M5 tag and see what happens. Thanks.

Because I don't drive this car all year long, I haven't applied the EZPass velcro strips. If needed, I just bring it along and then hold it up on the windshield glass just below the rear view mirror. Never had any issues with it being read.

that's exactly what I do. I don't like how the tag looks attached to the windshield. Now maybe if I stuck on ///M it wouldn't be so bad!

No problems with mine. I don't have mine stuck to the windshield or anything, I actually stow it behind the passenger seat in the net. But I hold it up underneath the windshield, and haven't had a problem yet.

Ok, thanks everyone... looks like I might have a bad tag. I'll investigate.
