yeah, it is.

automaticly stability control will be off when you go to sport+ mode. and if you press the tracktion control button, it will turn that off, also known as dynamic mode.

And trust me, if you put your foot down in a corner, it will go sideways, big time!

when i put my car in sport + i see it stays dynamic stability control activated, when i floor it i can see it allowing me a bit of fun but not fully off.

when in sport + if i hold the trackion button for 5 secs or so the traction is deactivated fully but the car returns to normal mode!!.

maybe am doing something wrong.

i should say 'TRACTION' in captials in the screen in between ur speedo and rev counter. You dont have to hold the trackion control button btw, just press it and it will disable it.

The default while in Normal or Sport is: DSC - ON and TRACTION - OFF

When in Sport + the DSC is automatically turned off, and TRACTION is turned on, so the indicator lamps you see lit up now indacate this.

If you have the adaptive M suspension, then when in Sport +, you CAN turn off TRACTION

If you do not have the adaptive M Suspension, then when in Sport + you CANNOT turn off TRACTION. If you try to turn it off, the car switches out of Sport + and back to Normal.

I do not have adaptive M suspension, so do not know if you just press once or press and hold.

It would seem if you want to turn off Traction, you would press the button until the TRACTION indicator lamp turns off. Whether this is a quick press or press and hold, I don't know.

Sorry MilitaryE89, here I go again

The DSC is NEVER completely deactivated, even in SPORT+ it is still alive but will allow more slip than the other modes.....this is what BMW has stated.

Her something from a German board:

Quote:

Translation:
Unfortunately, this shXt DSC intervenes more and more, regardless of whether Sport + or DSC off in normal mode! I had a lot of fun yesterday and today in the snow, but after about 20 minutes my brakes started to smoky and smell, although I never touched the brakes and used only the gas and steering..... really sad that "DSC History "

Per the US manual, the DTC button (labeled with a car and OFF) works like other BMWs. A quick press enables Dynamic Traction Control and allows some wheel slippage but DSC remains on. To deactivate DSC, press and hold the button. I have heard that its not full off or comes back on.

With the Normal/Sport buttons, going into Sport+ enables DTC automatically. I thought this was true for all Z4s, not just with M Dynamic suspension.
Also I don't think there is a way to disable DSC with the Sport button.

zeez_Dubai,

The M suspension option has no influence on the traction/stability control modes. I have the M suspension and can also not switch it off.

I have only one solution for you guys who want to switch off all computer controlled traction/stability/suspension stuff..........

Long press of the Sport button or the "trac Off" button?

Result is that the car goes back to the normal setup... I"m very much not amused with this!!! I wonder if this is a software problem/bug or if BMW did this on purpose??

From what the manual says, Press the button above sport/sport+ to help when on slippy surfaces, eg snow gravel etc. This turns Traction on. Once out of it, press it again.
The DSC is dumbed down and the car only takes care of forward momentum, DTC.
My understanding is that you cant turn it fully off, only tune it to the road condition, or your driving style.
I may be wrong!!!

I experimented yesterday. A short press of the Trac Off button is the same thing as Sport+, you get a traction off display in the dash and a similar message on the iDrive screen. Whether in Sport+, Sport, or Normal mode, a long press of the trac off button gives you a DSC Off message. I didn't actually play with the car at that point. I don't know if it stays off.

Garage List
well, we had some snow overhere in belgium, so lots of time to play around with DSC, DCS, DTC and what so ever.
It is however explained in an article about the 550i GT:
http://www.motiontrends.com/2009/06/...urismo_6.shtml
But I found a new translation for the coming E89 firmware update :

DSC: Drivers with no Balls
DTC: Drivers with a Nut
OFF: Drivers with BIG BALLS

Makes it all lots easier to understand what is what and for which purpose ;-)

guys what am trying to say is, try to have your car with DSC system completly off while its in sport + mode..

the time you press the button above traction button the car directly goes back to normal drivig mode even if it was in sport or sport +..

basically you cant do 180's or 360's while car is in sport + mode..
